Rancho Diablo, located in Lafayette, was built in 1929 by Berkeley architect, Lillian Bridgman (1866-1948). Now the residence of Lucia Howard and David Weingarten, architects and founders of Ace Architects, Lucia and David have beautifully restored and expanded this historic house to include their "Piraneseum" gallery, home to the leading collection of architectural souvenirs of the European Grand Tour.  Produced in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, these mementos include architectural ruin paintings (capricci),  drawings and etchings, architectural models, and a variety of decorative arts and furnishings.

Rancho Diablo and Piraneseum have been featured on tours, in many publications and the 2010 video "Designing with Nature: Arts and Crafts Architecture in Northern California".  Piraneseum's collection has been exhibited in numerous museums and in 2011 formed the "Grand Miniatures" exhibit in the SFO International Terminal. An exhibit including the range of Piraneseum's objects, "All Roads Lead to Rome", is scheduled again at SFO in January, 2017.  Piraneseum will debut as a gallery open to the public (by appointment) at the 2014 San Francisco Fall Antiques Show.

This exclusive tour gives ICAA members a unique chance to visit a house designed by one of the first American women architects,  explore a souvenir collection without parallel, and stroll the extensive garden.
